Project Overview:

Cambodia suffers from a high drop-out rate in schools. There is an issue both in the affordability of primary and secondary education, and its quality. ROTA's goals are to implement a project that reduces cost barriers to basic education and decreases drop out rates, especially in grades 1-6.  The project also aims to provide vocational training opportunities for the under-skilled and under-employed youth of Khsach Kandal and the adjacent districts of Kampong Cham and Prey Veng Provinces.

Description:

Project aims to relocate and build a Primary school, providing a 3 storey building composed of 24 fully furnished classrooms, equipped with all the necessary instructional tools. The current secondary school will be expanded to 21 classrooms.

To address the training needs of the community, ROTA has committed to building a 3 storey vocational training centre with 21 workshop classrooms furnished and equipped with all relevant material.

In order to enhance the quality of education, the project also includes building a teacher dormitory building, three student dormitory buildings, a cafeteria, meeting hall, a stadium, sports courts and the necessary infrastructure including a power and water system.

Total Cost:

Total project cost is USD 5,307,946. ROTA has committed USD 4,400,198 and the remaining amount has been funded by the Monithapana Foundation and the government of Cambodia.

  • 1,200 Primary school students
  • 1,050 Secondary school students
  • 500 vocational training students
