Ramadan Project: During the month of Ramadan we are planning to reach out to local communities and those in need, in the following ways:

  • Packing grocery supplies (rice, sugar etc.) for delivery to families
  • Preparing, packing and delivering Iftar meals
  • Delivering and installing household electrical equipment (fridges, cookers, air conditioning units, etc.)
  • Community visits; sharing time and interacting with hospital patients, the elderly and with special needs children
  • Hosting an amazing Garangaou event; a special occasion for the children of Qatar to celebrate this important cultural festival

If you would like to join us in making Ramadan extra-special for these communities and for those less fortunate than yourself, please fill out registration form and return it via email to rabusada@qf.org.qa, or by fax to +974 482 3603 for the attention of Mrs Rasha Abu Saada, by Tuesday 4th September, 2007.

An orientation meeting will be held for all Ramadan Project '07 volunteers on Wednesday 5th September, 2007. Further information on this will be sent on receipt of completed forms.

We look forward to having you join us in this exciting and worthwhile mission.

Most of these activities will be held from approx 1230hrs to 1500hrs throughout the month of Ramadan.

ROTAQ (Reach Out to Asia - Qatar) Community Impact Days : These days will have a particular theme and objective. They will be stand alone projects that can cater for between 20 to 300 volunteers. They will also be targeted to meet a need of our local community and will always relate to the overall objective of the program, to engage and educate you, our volunteers.

The specific days are being developed however some examples of the themes are: Environmental (e.g. beach clean up; desert clean up; recycling day); Human Needs (e.g. orphanage, elderly, handicapped); Education (e.g. renovation of a school or learning center, book collection), Health and Safety (e.g. Road Safety Program).

ROTA Work Experience Initiative: We will introduce students to careers through 4 one-day, on-site orientations over a six month period. Our aim is to place 100 volunteers at 20 different companies throughout Doha each month. This program will be enhanced with classroom preparation and follow-up activities. The ROTA Work Experience Initiative will take students into the workplace to learn about careers. This program will be open to any of our volunteers but be targeted towards high school students.

Youth Training and Lecture Series: We will host 7 seminars on youth related topics to increase the knowledge and skills of Qatar's youth. The format will be one hour lecture style with experts in the chosen field presenting their information. These topics will range from; Healthy Living, Road Safety, Financial Responsibility, Human Rights (Women and Children), The Law and Cancer Awareness

Volunteer Field Trips: Our field trip program is the cornerstone of the volunteer program as it provides support for our ongoing international programs.

The objectivities our field trips are: To educate and provide opportunities for our volunteers to learn about the true nature of volunteerism and what it means to give; To provide the volunteers with an experience that will help them grow personally and professionally into becoming global citizens; To spark the volunteers into becoming more active members of their own community in Qatar.
