HOW WE HELP
In light of the July/August 2006 crisis in both Lebanon and Palestine that resulted in more than 1,000,000 refugees, immeasurable injuries and loss of innocent lives, hundreds of thousands of children have been deprived of their basic human rights, such as food, water, health, shelter and education. Despite ongoing international efforts, more help is urgently needed to return hope and stability to all those war-torn children, while providing them with a future despite the situation.
"ATFALOUNA - OUR CHILDREN" is a Reach Out to Asia fund raising and awareness campaign. The initiative was formed with and will be carried out in close partnership with Al Jazeera Children's Channel, and the Qatar Red Crescent Society providing support as an operational partner. The whole campaign is under the auspices of Qatar Foundation.
The campaign aims at raising funds to ensure the immediate resumption of educational services and the return of both Lebanese and Palestinian children between the ages of 5 to 16 years back to their schools by the beginning of the upcoming Academic year 2006/2007. The campaign comprises two key phases: Emergency Phase and Long-Term Phase, which together will help return basic human rights to children who have been deprived of a stable life for many weeks following the ongoing crisis, and develop Lebanon and Palestine's education infrastructure.
The Emergency Phase aims to provide an immediate emergency response through fundraising to address the most pressing needs of children. Funds will grant students, their teachers and schools with basic supplies, crisis training, temporary learning spaces/shelters and general resources to facilitate the educational process.
The Long-Term Phase will address both the mid-term and long-term needs of the most affected areas in both Lebanon and Palestine. It aims at strengthening and sustaining primary and intermediate school systems that were disrupted by the violence. Activities will include the following:

The objective of our efforts is to return as many children back to their schools as quickly as possible, while raising the spirit of children and teachers to encourage motivation and determination, and the resilience to get back to their normal life progressively.

ROTA's Atfalouna campaign, in partnership with Al Jazeera Children's Channel, helps to secure a stable education for children in Lebanon and Palestine who have been affected by conflict.
