17 Schools Reconstruction Project in Nar Sher Ali Khan Bagh Azad Jumma and Kashmir

This project was carried out in response to a devastating 2005 earthquake that struck the North West Frontier Province in Pakistan, causing heavy loss of life and damage to infrastructure.

This project was carried out in response to a devastating 2005 earthquake that struck the North West Frontier Province in Pakistan, causing heavy loss of life and damage to infrastructure. In partnership with the Qatar Red Crescent, who already has a presence in the region, 17 schools were reconstructed to benefit students, teachers, and their respective communities. The multi-faceted project was worth $1.8 million. In addition, a ROTA-sponsored volunteer trip was also held to visit the afflicted areas. The handover and inauguration of the schools was done under the presence and auspices of Sheikha Aisha bint Faleh Al Thani, ROTA board member, in the summer of 2008.

  • Increase access to primary and secondary education for the children of Nar Sher Ali khan
  • Construction of seven prefabricated schools
  • Construction of ten permanent primary and secondary schools
  • Equipping school libraries
