Sheikh Mohammed Bin Abdulla Al Thani Becomes The First Qatari to Summit Mount Everest & Raise The Qatari Flag, On Top Of The Highest Mountain In The World

Sheikh Mohammed Bin Abdulla Al Thani,  Reach Out To Asia (ROTA) brand ambassador, returns victorious after becoming the first Qatari to summit the world’s highest mountain-Mount Everest at an altitude of 8,848 m.

With a team of Arabs that named their private group “Arabs With Altitude” Sheikh Mohammed Al Thani was accompanied throughout his adventurous two months adrenaline filled journey in his quest to reach the top of the world,  by his friends Raed Zidan, first Palestinian man to summit Mt. Everest, Masoud Mohammad, Raha Muharrak who became the first Saudi Arabianwoman and youngest Arab to summit Mt. Everest,  and the videographer Elia Saikaly. They are trying to raise $1 million (Dh3.67 million) for education projects in Nepal.

 In a congratulatory statement to Sheikh Mohammed, ROTA Executive Director, Essa Al Mannai said,This is indeed, a proud moment for all of us. Mt. Everest is one of the harshest environments on the planet, completely unpredictable and filled with uncertainty. It is one of the most difficult and arduous challenges a human being can undertake and is the ultimate symbol of human potential.

For Sheikh Mohammed, mountaineering is a passion. In September 2011, he summited Mont Blanc at 4,810 mts. He also climbed twice the summits of Mount Kilimanjaro at 5,895 mts on March 2010 and on November 2011, respectively. Similarly, in December 2012, he reached the top of Mount Vinson, the highest peak of Antarctica, at an altitude of 4,892mts, on August 28th 2012, he reached Mount Elbrus the highest point in Europe at 5,642 mts. on October 2012 he summited Mount Kosciuszko, Australia at 2,228 m and on 5th January 2013 he reached the summit of Mount Aconcagua (South America), the highest peak in the Western hemisphere at an altitude of 6,960 m.
