ROTA unveils Ramadan 2015 project: ‘Giving Back’

The announcement was made at a special press conference held at the Club House in QF’s Education City.

For the fourth consecutive year, Occidental Petroleum of Qatar Ltd (Oxy Qatar) will serve as the project’s exclusive sponsor. The conference was attended by Mohamed Al Naama, Acting Executive Director of ROTA; Stephen Kelly, President and General Manager of Oxy Qatar; and Hassan Al Malki, Deputy General Manager of Oxy Qatar.
 
ROTA supports QF’s mission to unlock the potential of youth leaders to build strong, sustainable communities. Its Ramadan initiative aims to raise local awareness of the value of volunteerism and community service, and is in-line with the Human and Social Development Pillars of the Qatar National Vision 2030. 
 
ROTA’s annual Ramadan project provides unparalleled opportunities for volunteers in Qatar to help others and give back to their community. And for the ninth consecutive year, local residents in Qatar will participate in ROTA’s community-based activities inside and outside Doha. 
 
Mohamed Al Naama of ROTA said: “I am thankful to God for giving us the will and strength to give back to our beloved country, Qatar. For the ninth consecutive year, ROTA’s dedicated and growing base of volunteers will give hope to those in need, and give back to the community that has given them so much.”

Stephen Kelly of Oxy Qatar said: “Oxy Qatar is honoured to once again support ROTA’s annual Ramadan Project. This year’s theme of ‘Giving Back’ reflects the true essence and meaning of Ramadan and provides opportunities for volunteers to give back and make a tangible, positive impact on their community. We appreciate ROTA’s dedication and leadership and offer our best wishes for a successful Ramadan 2015 Project.”
 
ROTA also works with -the Social Development Centre (SDC), to identify families in need for the distribution of bulk groceries. 
 
For the Garangaou events, volunteers will join and spend time with children at Hamad Pediatric Leukemia Unit, Al Wakra Hospital.
 
Additionally, ROTA volunteers will share an Iftar with the residents of Qatar Foundation for Elderly People Care, and another at Rumailah Hospital’s Residential Care Compound. They will additionally host special Iftars for labourers of the Doha, Al Shamal and Al Khor Municipalities. This year’s programme is expected to directly benefit around 1,000 individuals and eight institutions across Qatar. 
 
Volunteers have also been recruited for the Ramadan 2015 Project through the recently-launched TAMM Volunteer Network. More than 300 volunteers attended ROTA’s Ramadan Volunteer Orientation to learn about the initiative and to sign up.
