Youth Development

Inspired by The Heir Apparent H. H. Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani's call for strong and active organizations to work on developing active and involved Qatari society, ROTA’s community development strategy supports the establishment of a secure and stable society operating on the principles of justice and equality.

With the involvement of over 40 secondary schools and 9 universities, ROTA is directly empowering and equipping the youth of Qatar to be active agents of change in the development of their own communities through a four-part youth development strategy. The strategy includes a growing Youth Service Club Network, the annual EMPOWER youth conference, a series of four-day Leadership Training programs and a Corporate Mentorship program  aimed at supporting a select group of ROTA Youth Ambassadors, namely the ROTA Youth Advisory Board.

ROTA’s Youth Service Clubs

are designed to unlock youth potential and to empower the young people of Qatar by developing the skills they need to tackle community projects and become leaders.  Since 2007, over 2,000 youth in Qatar have benefited from ROTA activities and gained the confidence and skills needed to become leaders of tomorrow, empowering 14 to 24-year-olds to become active members of their communities and the wider world. To be part of the ROTA Youth Service Club network, you will need to attend annual RYSC Leadership Training held in January each year.

EMPOWER National Youth Conference

Empower is Qatar’s first ever youth-led national conference.  Launched in May 2009, this three-day conference aims to create a platform for young people to be empowered and equipped for leadership, service learning and to express a concerted voice in addressing local and global issues within a practical and dynamic learning context. The program brings together over 400 youth between the ages 14-24 with the purpose of inspiring, training, and challenging them to be inspired. Keynote speeches from world class speakers, a series of 12 creative and competence based workshops by leading field experts, exhibitions, artistic expressions, networking opportunities, are all elements of the conference that provide the tools for the youth to develop their skills.

ROTA Youth Service Club Leadership Training

RYSC is a four-day experiential, reflective, and interactive program for youth leaders between the ages of 14 and 24. Practical leadership, project management and advocacy skills workshops are part of the training regimen. The course has been designed to prepare potential and existing members of the ROTA Youth Service Club program with the knowledge, skills and attitudes they need to run their Club activities effectively.

The ROTA Youth Advisory Board

RYAB aims to engage and empower 14 young and active members of the ROTA Youth Network in an advisory and ambassadorial capacity, to be trained and mentored to support ROTA in defining and advocating for innovative solutions to education and youth development challenges, using sports, environment and Arabic language as educational tools.
